Heptapus

Life is boring without relationships .

About us

Heptapus is a computer-science research group developing experimental software solutions with graph databases, as well as a methodology for the design of data models. Following the choice of Neo4j as the platform common to all projects, the query language used is Cypher and the data structures, labelled property graphs. Applications currently under development lie within the realm of cybersecurity and logistics.

Besides producing applications, a critical overview of existing modelling techniques for graph databases is in progress. It is meant to provide the theoretical foundations of a novel design method, where models express the data structure by ways of a diagram enhanced with generalisation and inheritance mechanisms, so as to avoid duplicates of identical properties and relationships affecting different groups of nodes. This is achieved by introducing an equivalent of abstract classes into the diagrammatic model, to which these groups are tied by taxonomical links.

People

Heptapus is presently at the core of a research project supported by the Engineering school of the Argentinian National University located in Mendoza (Facultad de Ingeniería de la Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, resolución FI N° 384/2025). The project has equally a non-binding corporate support from Pacific Informatics / Zimo Research (Vietnam, USA), Inspectorio (Vietnam), LASO (China), Rubix (France), the University of Viena (Austria) and StratosphereIPS (Technical University of Prague). The seven members of Heptapus are: Rocío Baggio, Diego Forni, Juan Loncharich, Gabriel López and Tanguy Wettengel.
